                                                             We are just about there!
We have high speed connectivity.  We are presently upgrading our wireless to cope with increased demand.  We have established Google Docs school-wide so we are ready to have our students operate 'in the cloud'. We are trialing 'Teacher Dashboard' ready to personalise learning using digital learning activities.  We have developed policies and procedures which will guide the implementation of students bringing their own computers to school. We have purchased a large number of tablets with keyboards (Microsoft RTs) and a number of our families have opted to purchase this recommended device for their children to work with at school and at home. A number of children who are already using a laptop or intend to bring a laptop to  use for their learning will add to the students using school computers, who will be linked to 'the cloud'.  We are ready to begin a 'one-to-one device' approach which will enhance the opportunities to personalise learning already embedded:
# teaching styles and well resourced learning environments that provide for students varying learning styles, abilities and interests,
#specific acts of teaching that focus on student needs and are based on proven, successful pedagogy and curriculum knowledge
# effective assessment of learner needs and next steps of learning
# Flexible, fluid groupings as well as individualised interventions as required

Having access to a computer will allow us to personalise a student's learning environment even more and thus increase student engagement, self-management and student achievement which will empower our students to become self-directed, independent, self motivated learners ready to face the challenges of living in a rapidly changing world.

We are hoping to get a large number of parents along to the parent information sessions in helping children learn in maths today, as parent/child/school communication and collaboration are proven success elements in the academic successes of children.  We have focused a lot of time and funding this year in up-skilling staff, refining teaching, assessment and resourcing strategies all aimed at improving educational outcomes for all learners.  I would be interested in how you find these information sessions and what other help of information parents would like to support children in the learning of maths.
